Week four’s 4A top ten rankings are here and the usual suspects sit atop the list. Bothell may lack star power, but is number one on our board after three dominating performances. Ferris sits number two after a tough contest last week against a solid Lewis & Clark team.| Team | City | Record | Pvs. | Next Game | Prev Game | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1 | Bothell | Bothell | 3-0 | 1 | vs Garfield | @ Beat Roosevelt 56-13 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Bothell has yet to be tested this season and this probably won’t change until their week six match up at Woodinville. First year starting sensation senior QB John Hekker is showing that all the pre-season hype was for real. PF-146 PA-27 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 2 | Joel E. Ferris | Spokane | 3-0 | 2 | @ Shadle Park | vs Beat Lewis & Clark 19-6 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Saxons have one of the most lethal passing attacks in the state led by QB Jeff Minnerly and his favorite targets senior WR Shawn Stockton, senior WR Jared Karstetter and sophomore sensation WR Andrew Weigand. Until Stockton is 100% healthy (high ankle sprain) they will be at number two. Their defense is a bit small but very fast and has been dominating, only surrendering 13 points all season. PF-96 PA-13 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 3 | Eastlake | Sammamish | 3-0 | 3 | vs Redmond | @ Beat Woodinville 19-14 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| After losing their leading rusher, three leading receivers and four leading tacklers, there were many questions about this season's Wolves team. Most of those questions were answered in last week's 19-14 win over eighth ranked Woodinville. Senior QB Ryan Robertson is the real deal and has found a playmaker in 6-foot-4 senior wide out Cory Mackay. PF-121 PA-21 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 4 | Woodway | Edmonds | 3-0 | 4 | @ Lynwood | @ Beat Shorecrest 63-20 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Edmonds Woodway is stacked, plain and simple. They have already badly beaten two good teams in Meadowdale and Mariner and look poised to stay unbeaten for their week six showdown with Kamiak. They are loaded at the skill positions with senior QB Kyle McCartney, one of the best running backs in the state in senior Tony Heard and they even have a playmaker at wide out in Antoinne Wafer. The one question will be how well the defense holds up in a close contest. PF-152 PA-60 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 5 | Oak Harbor | Oak Harbor | 3-0 | 5 | @ Snohomish | @ Beat Meadowdale 14-9 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Oak Harbor got a scare in week three against a very solid Meadowdale team, walking away with a 14-9 victory. Next week they will be tested again against an undefeated Snohomish team. The Wildcats may need all nine lives to repeat as champions again this season, but if senior RB Chris Valencia and Division-I hopeful senior WR Rodrick Rumble heat up, they should win the WESCO – North. PF-86 PA-36 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 6 | Kamiak | Mukilteo | 3-0 | 6 | @ Monroe | vs Beat Mountlake Terrace 35-19 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Kamiak can score with any team in the state, but can their defense step up in big games? Led by University of Washington commit DB/RB Justin Glenn, Division-I hopeful senior TE/DL Skylar Stormo and the steady play of senior QB Cub Jansen, Kamiak appears playoff bound. Glenn has put up gaudy numbers since becoming the featured running back and still remains the best cover corner in the state. PF-114 PA-47 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 7 | Puyallup | Puyallup | 3-0 | 7 | vs Bethel | @ Beat Beamer 35-21 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Puyallup already edged out number 10 ranked Kentwood in week two and looks poised to contend for the SPSL – South. They have a good defense led by senior linebackers Kevin Friermuth and DJ Williams. They also have a solid ground game led by none other than DJ Williams. Their next two games against Bethel and Graham-Kapowsin should shape their season. PF-90 PA-52 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 8 | Woodinville | Woodinville | 2-1 | 8 | @ Inglemoor | vs Lost to Eastlake 14-19 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| How much can you drop them after a tough 14-19 loss to Eastlake? They put up close to the same offensive numbers as Eastlake and their defense looks to be legit. If senior QB Peter Roberts can be more consistent and avoid turnovers, Woodinville could make some noise. Look out for their week six match up with Bothell. PF-96 PA-25 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 9 | Evergreen | Vancouver | 2-1 | 9 | @ Columbia River | @ Beat Sprague (Salem, OR) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| They might be the most balanced team in thier league with a solid running attack led by one of the best and biggest runners in the state, BYU commit, senior Jerry Bruner. Senior QB Bobby Cowan had a monster game against Sprague, throwing for 306 yards and three touchdowns. If they can remain balanced and get defensive stops late in games, Evergreen could once again find themselves at the top of the rankings. However, before they can get there they will need to survive a week five match up with Heritage (2-1) and a week six game against Skyview (2-1). PF-105 PA-71 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 10 | Kentwood | Covington | 2-1 | 10 | vs Kentridge | @ Beat Decatur 35-6 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Kentwood still has a lot to prove, but they nearly beat seventh ranked Puyallup and have the best pure running back in the state in senior Demetrius Bronson. However, this ranking could be short lived if they don’t produce against preseason SPSL – North favorite Kentridge this week. This will be a show me game. Show me you are more than a one man team - show me you can get stops when it counts - or at least show me that Bronson is in fact good enough to carry them all season. The North is very much up for grabs. PF-80 PA-50 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
