11 Teams wrap up undefeated regular seasons

Posted by Tom Wyrwich at 08:20 AM

Congratulations to the following area football teams, who finished this week undefeated. In notable games this weekend, O'Dea wrapped up the Metro title against Nathan Hale, Ferndale survived Mount Vernon in overtime, and Archbishop Murphy won the Cascade with a victory against South Whidbey.

Looking ahead in the playoffs, some of these teams could meet pretty early. Skyline and Lakes would meet in the so-called "first round," which is actually the playoffs' second round. Ferndale and Franklin would meet in the quarterfinals, if both teams made it that far. The same's true with Bothell and Oak Harbor in Class 4A. There are plenty of teams ready to derail these meetings if they can.

One note: Cascade Christian hasn't finished its season yet. It plays Life Christian on Thursday.

Class 4A

KingCo 4A

Playoff spots: five.
In: No. 2 Bothell (8-0), No. 5 Eastlake (7-1), Woodinville (6-2), Inglemoor (5-3), Ballard (5-3).
Key games this week: Redmond 14, Inglemoor 13; Woodinville 48, Garfield 0; Eastlake 28, Franklin 13.
The skinny: It's settled. Bothell's the first seed and gets a tough game in Gig Harbor in the preliminary round. Eastlake is the second seed and hosts Bethel, another tough first-round game. Woodinville is the third seed and plays at Heritage. Inglemoor, by beating Ballard during the season, gets the fourth seed and plays at Rogers. And Ballard, your prize for making the playoffs for the first time in four years: No. 3 Edmonds-Woodway.
