Preparation for Fall Football

What is expected from the players during the summer?

If you are in town all players should be at weight training & conditioning Monday thru Thursday. The off-season conditioning program is designed for the football program to   help prepare your son for the season and hopefully prevent injuries. Weight Room Hours:  8 – 10 am  

What if my family is going on vacation?

Go on vacation before August 18th.  Coach expects you to spend time with your family and he will spend time with his family too. BUT…you need to communicate with the coaches that you will be gone.

Do I need to participate in the Bothell Fourth of July Parade? 

If you are in town we would love to have you join your teammates and coaches in the parade. We decorate a flat bed truck for the team to ride on at BHS but have the players meet the vehicle at the staging (Cascadia Community College) usually by 11:30 am. Parade begins at noon. Wear your 2012 season team t-shirt and shorts. Candy to throw to the crowd will be provided by the booster club.  

Camp Brotherhood, where is it and why do they go?

 Camp Brotherhood proved to be one of the most important experiences the players and coaches had last season. Just ask any coach and they will tell you they learn so much about each player and their level of commitment during these 3 days. The camp is located in Skagit County and is a closed camp coaches and players only. They leave as individuals and return a family! 

Who pays for Camp Brotherhood? 

The Cougar Football Club pays for the entire team and coaching staff. This is made possible by the support the program receives each year at the Booster Auction.

What are Cougar Cards?

Sometime during the 2nd week of practice each player will be given 20 Cougar Coupon Cards to sell. The cards will be sold for $20. The purchaser will receive a discount at a variety of local businesses and restaurants in the Bothell area. Coach Bainter will give the players a few hours after a practice to sell the cards and return with their money. This is a one time, one day sale so it is encouraged to pre-sale some of the cards to get a head start.  

What are buddy pictures?

At picture day, August 21st, the players can have pictures taken with others in addition to their single portrait. Makes a great keepsake for the O-Line or QB & Receivers, or whomever you’d like to have an official portrait taken with. They will be available to view on-line on the photographer website and you will be able to order directly from them. There will be on pre-ordering of buddy pictures available. Buddy Pictures will begin at 8 am and promptly end at 9 am when the team pictures begin.  

What is the District All-Sports Pass?

Good for 10 home game event entries for $50 for all sport seasons.  This pass offers a discounted adult entry price of $5 per event instead of $6. You can use this pass as a family pass.  They will be punching the pass or marking off for each entry at the gate.   

The Cougar Football Club will not be collecting money for these passes they can be purchased directly through the ASB office at Bothell High when the office reopens in August.   

What is a Player Ad?

We provide you with the opportunity to be creative and write words of encouragement and praise to your player to be printed in the 2010 Season Game Day Program. Coming soon Player Ad Order Form.  

FAQ – Season Expectations

What if a player is sick and absent from school?

Your son needs to call Coach Bainter, or email Coach Bainter at tbainter@nsd.org or call the office and have them leave a message in his box. It is the player’s responsibility and great life lesson to communicate to the coaches that he will not be there. 

Does the district provide transportation to all games?

Yes, all football levels of play will be transported to their games via buses, only exception may be the Sophomore Jamboree (date to be determined).

What is the practice schedule during the season for sophomores?

On Monday the players will meet for a mandatory study hall until 2:45 pm, move to the weight room until approx. 4 pm and practice on the field until 5:30. On all other non-game nights practice will be from 2:45 – 5:30 pm (but I wouldn’t pick up them up until at least 5:45-6pm). 

Varsity Practice Schedule?

Practice will be from 2:45 – 5:30. Monday the team will lift and watch film before taking the field at 4 pm.  

Varsity Game Nights?

Game day players will go home after school to eat, rest and return to school at the expected time for taping, meetings, etc. Coaches will communicate with the team what is expected of them week to week.

When are the Sophomore Games?

Sophomore team will play the majority of their games on Thursday’s but it could include some Saturday’s depending on who they are playing. (Note: The sophomore schedule is the last schedule to be put together and will not be available until late August.) 

How will I know if a game has had a last minute change?

Every year there is a last minute cancellation, time, or location change to a game this happens most often at the sophomore level. As soon as we know about the change CFC will email our contact list and the school will have the change on the athletic department voicemail, 425-408-7015. Please also talk to your son about making a call to you with the change we will do our very best to get the information out as soon as we can. 

Varsity Games, what time will the ticket sales begin and gates open?

This season all games will begin at 7 pm (only exception is if we are playing a special event game or at Memorial Stadium). Tickets sales and gates will open at 5 pm each week.   

Will the school be pre-sale tickets this year?

Yes, the ASB secretary, Cathy Denny will be pre-selling single game tickets to select home games this season. You can also purchase an All Sports Home Game Season pass from Cathy good for 10 events cost is $50. (This is a savings of $1 per event for adults and is good for basketball, volleyball, etc.)
