Off Season Preparation – January thru June
Open Weight Room Training
The weight room is open Monday – Thursday afterschool until 4:15 pm for all BHS students and incoming sophomores. If you are not playing another sport, we recommend that you are in the weight room daily afterschool.
Incoming sophomores traveling from CPJH can take the school bus (with a bus pass) to Bothell each afternoon. Unfortunately, the Skyview players do not have this option so parents have worked out carpooling in the past.
Why is weight training so important?
Football is a very demanding sport. Although lifting and running in the off season will not guarantee you will not be injured during the season research shows that the stronger you are the more your body can protect your joints, ligaments, etc. from injury. Also, you get to spend time together off the field with your team mates, encouraging each other to work hard for a common goal.
Spring Football, what is this?
Spring football is the training period after all spring sports state competitions have finished at the end of May. This training period allows the team time to prep on the field for the summer team camps they attend.
Summer Team Camp? Where and When is it?
The past two years Bothell has attended the team camp at Western Washington University in Bellingham in June right after school is out. The team will travel by school bus to Western and stay/eat in the dorms. The camp has traditionally run from Sunday thru Thursday, each day the team will have several practice/meeting sessions and scrimmage against other teams attending the camp.
Insurance & Cost of Camp
Insurance: Western requires that all participants have health insurance coverage to attend. If you don’t currently have health insurance you can contact the school and purchase a policy through the school district. Note: There is no exception to this rule by Western.
Cost to attend camp is paid for by each family. Exact costs and information will not be available until later this spring but plan on spending approx. $300 for camp and transportation. If financial help is needed please contact Coach Bainter directly. Although the school and football club will not scholarship kids we are willing to work out a payment schedule with you.
Spring Parent Meeting
Each May Coach Bainter will host a parent information meeting at BHS. Please watch the website Alerts link for the most important and current information about Bothell Football.
